The Customs Service and the National Police of Ukraine have launched joint raids to identify and confiscate cars with foreign license plates that were illegally imported into Ukraine, such raids have already been successfully conducted in two Ukrainian regions - Poltava and Ternopil.
At the moment, law enforcement officers are searching for violators who did not comply with the terms of stay on the territory of Ukraine. As the source notes, only certain cars can be confiscated. We are talking about vehicles that have been on the territory of our country illegally for at least one month. If the period of stay is less, the car will not be confiscated. However, if the period of stay is violated for more than a month, the owner of the car will be fined eight thousand hryvnias.
If the car was imported to the territory of Ukraine by a non-resident, law enforcers will not issue fines, they will simply confiscate the car.
Motorists who have purchased cars with Euro license plates are sounding the alarm. In some regions a serious inspection of cars not registered in Ukraine has begun. The law enforcers pay special attention to compliance with the terms of the vehicle's presence in the country. The police invite violators to come to the customs, where the question of punishment is decided. If the car is illegally in Ukraine for more than a month, the owner of the car must pay a fine of 8 thousand to 17 thousand hryvnias. And if the car was imported to the territory of Ukraine by a non-resident, but it is in the use of a resident, then such a vehicle is confiscated.
